A Question of Love
This is my Valentine’s Day Blog for all Victims of Abuse.
And for Everyone who has Loved and lost
… and Loved again!
YOU ARE YOUR MOST IMPORTANT PROJECT.
KNOW THIS -
You are Lovable and you will Love again.
But first, always first, Love yourself.
AFTER A WHILE
After awhile you learn
The subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul
And you learn that love doesn’t mean possession
And company doesn’t mean security
And loneliness is universal.
And you begin to learn
That kisses aren’t contracts
And presents aren’t promises
And you begin to accept your defeats
With your head up and your eyes open
With the grace of a woman
Not the grief of a child.
And you learn
To build your hope on today
Because tomorrow’s ground
Can be too uncertain for plans
And the future has a way of falling apart mid-flight.
Yet each step taken in a new direction creates a path
Toward the promise of a brighter dawn.
After a while you learn
Even sunshine burns
If you get too much
So you plant your own garden
And nourish your own soul
Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn that through it all you can endure
That you really are strong
And you really do have worth
And you learn and learn
With every goodbye
You learn.

Lesson: Your next love might not be “the one.” That’s OK.
Because there is great value and self-esteem repair in the ‘Transitional Ones’.
Trust me on that ;)
